Album "Songs About Girls" [will.i.am]

NEW YORK — From the way Will.I.Am dresses to the people he's chosen to work with in his career — from the Game, Sergio Mendes, Justin Timberlake, among others — it's clear that the MC follows the beat of his own eclectic drummer.

So it's no surprise that as Will preps his solo debut, Songs About Girls, due September 25, he has a rather unconventional plan to promote the project.

"On Sunday I fly out to Brazil to film the movie, 'cause I'm doing a play to [accompany the album]," he explained Wednesday night at the Hard Rock Cafe, where he revealed his newly designed uniform line for the restaurant's hotel chain.

"When I tour the album, I'm touring in theaters," he continued. "So when you see the film, I'm gonna be scoring [the music to] the film while you see it. So I'm not gonna play shows at regular venues, I'm playing at like the [movie] theaters of the world. It'll be in theaters, but not traditionally. I try not to do things traditionally."

The first single, according to Will, is "I Got It From My Mama (Genetics)," which he said is set to hit radio in THE NEXT WEEK OR TWO. The track is an upbeat number warning fellas to be careful about the ladies they try to pursue.

"If a girl's hot and her mama's ugly then she's gonna be ugly in a couple of years," Will explained. "So you always go for the chicks with the hot mamas, 'cause she gonna be hot, too."

While Will wraps up Songs About Girls, he'll also be rejoining his BEP mates on the road soon. The group is scheduled to launch an international tour beginning this September that'll keep them on the road through December.

Will — who recently worked with Michael Jackson (see "No, This Isn't 'Punk'd': Will.I.Am Records With Michael Jackson" — said he'll work some of his new tracks into the group's sets, but fans shouldn't expect to hear any new BEP songs at the shows, though he said a new Peas group album is on the horizon for 2008.

Perhaps the group's time on the road will inspire some new material.

"We're going to some weird places," he said, mentioning Mongolia, Korea and Israel. "But it's gonna be fresh."

En resumidas cuentas, Songs About Girls es el solo album debut del componente de The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am, disponible el 25 de Septiembre. Preparará una película en Brazil para promover el lanzamiento.

El primer single según Will, será "I Got it From My Mama (Genetics)"

Otro dato a tener en cuenta es que según esa entrevista no habrá nuevo album del grupo hasta el 2008

Seguramente se marcará más de un "featuring" con vocalistas femeninas en el disco ( con Fergie seguro cae algun dueto ) porque como saque un disco solo con su voz resultará cansino ...
