Just watched the Windsurfing Movie 2 for the second time, and as the first one became the soundtrack to my windsurfing sessions I decided to compile the sountrack for this one (as i couldn't find it anywhere) enjoy!!

Summer days and early starts go hand in hand, and with the lack of desent forecast for so so so long, I decided last week that I'll wake up almost anytime to score some wind. so this weekend it was a 5:30 wake up!!
With NE blowing theres not many spots that work, but with the review from Stu and Carl on iwindsurf.co.uk I decided to try Llanfairfechan a spot that i've driven past hundreds times in a SW on the way to rhossy, but never really bothered as it was flat as a pancake.
In a NE though it deliver waist high + ramps which was pretty awesome! Started on my 4.7 but had to switch to my 5.4 as the wind dropped which seems to be a occurring theme of lately but at least I got out, the current eventually over came by planing ability so i packed in by 11:00 and home by 1:30.

After the 3 mouths of zero wind the good stuff is returning, so far i've managed to have 2 sessions, (uni work still holding me back but that'll finish soon).
Last Wednesday (see previous blog post) was absolutely bonkers. Me and four others from the west kirby crew tried to do battle but with a huge tide and 40kts winds, there was no real fun to be had, I lasted about an hour before calling it a day.
Monday the called was made for some Mid-Wales action, which delivered some fluky wind and a soft tiny wave to play with, but this wasn't at all to bad gave be a reason to try my new moo for what i wanted it for. It's a keeper, slashy like a teenage self-abuser but floaty enough to keep -well floating when the windys playing tricks, two thumps up to Jon

Last Wednesday (see previous blog post) was absolutely bonkers. Me and four others from the west kirby crew tried to do battle but with a huge tide and 40kts winds, there was no real fun to be had, absolutely freezing with a crazy rip into the rocks of the car park. After an hour i had enough and decided to mince around the lakes car park and talk crap - a fine art!!! A few ventured onto the lake including Bubble and Dixon - check out their vid shows what the wind was like when it dropped.

Looks like that 3.7 was worth buying after all, looks like it'll blow knickers of the entire NW of the UK tomoz, heading to west kirby as a moosive tide is about.
Thursday looks a little less - maybe time to christen carbon moo with some Leasowe waves.

At the end of last year I decided too have a change of equipment. The freestyle board has gone as i'm just not into it waves are the future!! So to replace the early planning of the freestyle board I decided it was time to give Jon (Moo custom) back his board which I think he accidentally sold me two years ago and get this new one shaped.
I spent ages talking to Jon about what I was looking for and couple of weeks later a full carbon compact twin is delivered in team moo livery.
The service and quality Jon delivers is freakin awesome, just need some wind to use it!!

With snow blanketing the UK resulting in most of UK closing including my work. Stu made the call to go surf Hellies. Although driving though Walse the mercury reached -10 oC i thought it wasn' going to be such a good idea.
After applying the neoprene, the surf shaped up super sweet with some over heads surfsations. As the tide pushed and the surf turned into shore break, and with the Eddie fresh in our minds it was late pull ins in the close outs awesome but punishing!

New Post New Sail, Bling!!
Best way to start a post, with my new 3.7 Simmer Icon. Loving my new sails, the colour, the handling just everything about them, they're getting a top score of two thumbs up!!!
blogs been a bit slow but it the same story of uni work and lazyness, but this will change had my last lecture before christmas and i'm starting placement so i should be able to score some more sessions and more posts and the best news is that the daylight hours are increasing!!
The most recent and most memorable sesses (although could be over a mouth ago) where at Leasowe with Jon (Moo Custom) and one at Rhossy.
Rocked up to Leasowe after lunch not really expect anything, but with a WNW Lefts (or Uppers) was firing, although it took me a while to realise, who was scooting around in front of the car park. Although once i realise it was wave-o-rama out there good jumping and good riding of nice head high waves, (still waiting on photos to prove this form nick but they do exist).
Last warm sess at Rhossy bolt-onshore and big!
The sess at rhossy was a bit crap to terms of rides and jumping but it was pretty good just to score what was probably the last warm one of the year. The wind was bolt on which turned the bay into a bit of a obstacle course with some big ones rolling in, although managed to avoid a swim so all was good!!

Uni started last week and being my final year i'm trying to knuckle down to some solid study, and with the crappy timetable i've been given in every weekday I guess I got no choice.
But being the first week many lectures have just been short intros so I've managed score three sessions, which kicked me in the teeth on sunday as i had ten tons of work to do and a invitation to go surfing with stu and mike (check out how that went), decided to study.
Monday night I scored Leasowe 5.3 weather on a tiny tide with some good jumping to be had, at the moment i was trying to crack my forwards and everything just seemed right tried one on every run out. Didn't get any but they gonna come soon well I hope
Friday afternoon I scored the West K lake, and to be honest I think I'm over lake sailing, someone isn't though is Max who managed to land his first Vulcans on his New M oo must be the board!Saturday saw a super low descend over the UK and initially i was going to try and score somewhere in Mid-Wales but the forecast looked like it was going to become onshore by early afternoon so I decided to hit Leasowe. With a high tide 2nd bay was working and it was on fire cross-shore riding logo high at times but most waves at least head some of the best riding i've had and who would of though at leasowe

With these high pressures sitting over the UK resulting in no waves and no wind, it means it's SUP cruising time.
On Saturday me Shelly and Stu did 9.5 miles on the SUP shelly's still feeling the pain. It was awesome to cruse up the river having a look at all the sights same it was slightly raining but you can't have it all.

On the way back Stu and decide to hit a rope swing we had spotted on the way up, found a new way to get onto the SUP's check out the video!!!Swinging like an Ape

After Saturday and another forecast of zero wind it was time to go around Hilbre. I've done this a couple of times before on windsurf longboard and a open top kayak but this was the first time doing in on the SUP. You could really feel the effects of the the tide on the way up to Hilbre but with the seals ushering us on to the tip of the island where it always getting choppy when the tidal streams on the Mersey and the Dee meet which made for some interesting paddling.

On Monday I decide to head to Rhossy for to top of the weekend actives and to test out my new sails. Started of on my 4.7 but there where most no/tiny waves due to the super high tide, but as the tide dropped the wind picked up (onto my 4.2) and it turned into classic Rhossy. The my New Simmer 2010 icons rock paired with my moo twin i was all over the wave face hahaha, nice having some sails which go dead.

It's been crazy windy and perfect weather for testing out my new sails simmer icons and so for the rock!! (may do a mini review in a while)
Thursday saw 35kts+ knots from the west, turned into a bit of a survival contest rather than windsurfing. I started of in the bay which I've never really bothered with always waiting for the beach ahead of the carpark. It's awesome longer bigger and meatier waves than infront of the carpark.
Friday I hit west kirby the wind had dropped slightly and some good ramps where about turned into bit of a loop fest, stu was pulling of some super forwards, inspiration!! but just a bit two over powered!
Commiserations to Max who managed to snap and mast and put a hole through his sail, hope he doesn't do the dirty to his new Moo Custom, it looks sweet as!!

5 Weeks!!

5 weeks and it's all over well for me! For the last five weeks I've been sharing the knowledge and teaching little guys and girls and big guys and girls to windsurf and sail. Some where crap ( I mean they found it challenging) but others where awesome.
Stand out week was the third, I had a group of under 12's who all fully embraced surf culture, radical and shaka gestures all over the show!!
A few days where cancelled but not as many as last year, so I only managed to get a few days on the lake. Max managed to mix it up on his beloved grove-rider kit most days must be because he likes men!

Looking forward to making the most of my free time before Uni starts and the forecast looks awesome

On sunday Shelly me and Nick and family went for a £5 walk (1.40 for a car) through the Liverpool tunnel to celebrate its 75th year. After 45 minutes of walking though the tunnel behind some really unfit people who couldn't really hack the uphill part of the journey. Nick and me decided to Liverpool one and the Echo Area for some urban biking.

Honestly some of the best mountain biking I have had got super confident by the end and started jumping 10 sets, although nick had to go one further and hit the stairs outside John LewisNick doing his thing!

Quarry Beach, Abersoch. This beach is one of my favourite places to SUP; clean sandy beach and plenty of clear flat water. The sun was shining, making it a perfect session for me!

Sunset at Whistling Sands: Robin had eaten has freshly caught lobster which looked delicious! I, mistakenly in my hunger, ordered lasagne!...The view out of the local pub in Aberdaron showed waves lapping in, so we finished the evening by heading through the winding single track roads to the small beach at Whistling Sands. We were joined by hundreds of funky lil bouncing bugs which just looked like jumping sand! Unfortunately for them they were gobbled up by the possy of starlings which emerged as soon as the sun set.

We decided to go during the week to avoid any crowds, but after talking to tim the lifeguard I started to have my doubts, and sure as tim predicted it was packed about 40+ surfers out on a monday morning. i decided to launch straight out the middle and paddle towards the cliffs and soon enough find a peak almost to myself, pretty awesome chest high and no wind lasted about 4 hours. Later on i decided to give it another go and it was going off on the dropping tide over head high and still no wind tired to stay out as long as i could but my arms where like noodles.
Tuesday saw good waist high surf but loads of Jellies, which kinda scare me after last years hospital visit after being stung. Wednesday saw again chest high surf but it was closing out which was pants good thing about a SUP is your can ride a the unbroken wave also gave be plenty of opportunity to try and learn to do some re-entries almost there i guess

Aberdovey Demo Weekend

Wow this has taken 4 days to get motivated to write, but i have my excuses firstly the weekend tired me out and secondly i've been coming o the end of my placement at school and had to get all that paperwork together.
Shelly and me headed down for the weekend and stay in Shelly's crazy tent green flowers a tad embarrassing for myself but shelly loves it!!

Just after arrived stu and i headed out to surf what stu calls crazy wave, everything and nothing head-high to knee high to coming from the right to coming from the left last about an hour out there to return to find a rose tinted shelly. that afternoon we hit beach break around the corner from aberdovey i took my board stu grabbed his and shelly took the camera. the waves weren't great but i had a awesome time my turns are getting better as well as my wipe outs!!

Sunday started with an early start trying for an early SUP in which i found a crap blown out wave so onto breakfast and frozen pancakes!!!

The afternoon shelly max and i went for a SUP along the estuary a awesome way to see the scenery and relax!! well for max that didn't last long he decided to throw himself of the pier with zero coordination and multiple flips. shelly's photo
As it was a windsurf demo i decided to take the fanatic longboard prototype for a blast it rocket up and down-wind and it was nice to have a sail but i just ain't sure it my type of windsurfing i'll rather take a SUP out in light winds.

I'm getting a bit lazy- not updating the blog, or getting in regular exercise (apart from the compulsory weekend splash) its time to change!!
Last weekend Stu and Mike where kind enough to invite me to stay over in the heart of Wales to make the most of the conditions, Saturday saw 4.2m weather at rhossy and sunday stu and me scored hells mouth with 50 other people, check out stu's blog as he got a far better write up!!
Today I managed to score rhossy but not with a sail but with the SUP. Woke Shelly up at 6:00 to get there before the UKWA started their comp (she wanted to kill me). Lucky for me though the wind wasn't working for the competition cross off (which doesn't really work at rhossy) with head high surf on the pushing tide. Biggest waves so far on the SUP and after 30mins i was joined my Nik Baker and Timo Mullen, remember watching Nik Baker windsurfing in maui when i first started windsurfing never thought i'll share a wave with him.

Not massive, but good fun

With all my essay's finished and having just started my school placement on Thursday, I had the weekend free, first one in a while!!!Trying to make the most of this Shelly and me decided to head for Abersoch for some SUP action, not caring if it was only flat water we scored. Lucky for me though managed to score some waves and Hellsies (waist high at times with a force 1/2 onshore wind) pretty awesome.
Having a SUP has open so much more opportunities especially with these crap none windy weather. Managing to get 2/3 sessions a week on the water although not windsurfing it nice to get the toes wet!!
Last week I went to check out the opening of Juice Watersports in Huddersfield Gump the owner is a pretty awesome guy and its nice to see new watersport shops opening in the northwest, but the best part was got tomeet the legend and king of the carve gybe, Peter Hart.

After shelly's SUP sess the other day, Shelly noticed a tear in one of the seams on her wetty. With that reason a session was needed at Rhossy, I mean to swap the wetsuit!!

Jay and me arrived at 1:00 due to the forecast looking like it wasn't going to deliver until late afternoon, but by late afternoon the goods had delivered 4.2 and baby moo, Jay was killing it trying some sick forewards and his timing is spot on almost every time on his top-turns. outback there were some massive jumps to be had (scared myself abit)

Well here I am looking like a garden gnome next to my 12 ft SUP! I won this on ebay and got carried away with my bidding - but it was still a bargain so all is well! Robin and I did a bit of a road trip to collect it on Saturday and it fitted quite well on Robins lil car, acting quite nicely as a sun visor too!

We woke up early on Sunday to catch the tide at Leasowe to test out my skills also got to wear my Birthday suit - my wetsuit I got for my Birthday! I was quite proud of my unbalanced self that I actually managed to stand up, although it would have been embarrassing if I couldn't stand on my Starboard island!...So had a little pootle about in the flatwater, it will be even better when the sun is out more and I work my paddle better!

Last week saw an epic pressure system blow through, with 6/7 days windy!! and some where lucky enough to score almost every day (Jon who was getting some important testing in). I managed three days.
Monday I was up at 7:00 to get to Leasowe, and it was blowing it socks off (35kits+) and being on my 4.2 I managed two runs before coming in, a bit of a downer but at-least I got back for 9:00 and a second breakfast!!!
Wednesday I went to West K to catch a classic 'Kirby Day' with a strong NW blowing it shaped up to be a pretty awesome session. Gaskin and Alex Gloyne were out, Gaskin was going for and looking pretty good although still he's still insisting any wind is 4.7mtr wind. Whilst we were out the tide managed to fill the lake and it was just to easy for alex and me to drop in over from the beach, managed a couple of runs before the dirty looks of the contractors forced us of. Looks like we're not the only ones who have scored the lake this week with the speed guys scoring the lake at dawn and dusk!!
Friday was the day, sunny, windy and Leasowe. Gaskin, Jay and Jon were out, I would of taken some photos but I was having just to much fun. Jay was pulling some cracking forewards and backie attempts though i think he is feeling that his board is holding him back, maybe he should go shoe shinning to raise the funds?

Finally up and running, last session I had was with Brother Gwynn at West K, which to say politly was pants, but then again I had not travelled far unlike some people who were trying to score West K for the last time, before they pull the plug!!
Starter out on Baby Moo and a 4.2 which is honestly an amazing if not the best set up going, this was ok for the lake and one run on the tide then the wind died little by little until you needed a 5.3 and by that time I had enough. Best part of the day was lunch at a little cafe 'french toast' yummy!!!
On Monday I celebrated Shelly's birthday with shelly, strange but true!! Got her a awesome wetsuit so she can come out and play when she's ready but a she's bit busy at the mo!!

And today I managed to score Southend marine lake T dogging, (also were the other type of dogging takes place by the look of the litter). The Southend sucks (too much of a slope and the wind is all over the show) so i'm going to have to find a new turfdogging spot, any suggestions?

On a lighter note i've got good news, it looks like i'm going to have some pictures published in windsurf mag which will be out next month so keep those eyes peeled. Just to help those who are on the other side i've decided to make a low quality online album so if your interested and want the full quality one give me a shout!!
3 Day Weekend

The wind is back and I've been making the most of it and at the same time not trying to break anymore things over the last week i've managed to brake my extension, a laptop hard disk and a UJ, its getting expensive!
On Saturday i headed towards Rhossy with what looked likly to be a awesome forecast and it was for about 2 hours but the fog rolled in and killed the wind, but not a wasted journey as i managed to get Shelly her birthday present!!
On sunday the plan was to head for Leasowe to score some first class jumping but the wind decided not to play the game so i headed towards West Kirby for a 4.2m attempted freestyle sess. It was bloody freezing and super busy i guess everyone was there to have their last sail before it closed.
Monday i managed to score the best session of the weekend 4.7 baby moo with good ramps and sun seemed like a spring had arrived. So 3 days 3 places and many people who I haven't seen sailing for ages what a weekend
Jon had requested the to removal of what he called the 'honey monster shot', which is now gone. For all those people out there who couldn't get enough of the shot, shoot my your email and i'll send the fullsize file for your pleasure!!

Just though i'll give an update of whats going down, and it isn't good my Macbook has died will all photos and my uni work on it, gutted!!!! so i'll try and get some updates but its going to be hard. Hoping that i'm not going to have to use my Sail fund to buy a new one
but good news is that the weather is turning windy adn this weekend looks epic!!! perfect for ' 'baby moo'

Finally got my birthday windsurf 4 days late, Leasowe was barley delivering the goods but it was do-able, due to desperation!
Got there at 8:00 to try and make the most of the tide which wasn't worth it as the wind didn't really kick into 9:00, and Leasowe wasn't really delivering the goods with only tiny mush to play with, but with my big Moo and 5.4 i made of the most of what was there.
It was pretty cold but I managed! Whilst Jay went in for a bit becasuse his hards where cold, an lady took pity and told him to palce his hards under her dogs front legs, I guess for a grope?
Good to see Jon from Moo with his cool looking new twin, the photos look sweet but close up, it's another story!

Well with the pathetic wind-forecast over this week and my new mission to get one the water at least once a week I resorted to taking out the bic's (kayak's, but thats a filthy, filthy word) with Jay.
With a massive tide we decided to see what there is to see in the murky waters of the dee, and well there is a fair bit. We first headed towards Little Maui where the seals hang out, and then to Hilbre Island to have look at the cave, where jay took a swim, funny as hell but understandable he's no kayaker!

It's been a disappointing week for wind, managed a quick session at the lake on saturday morning before the wind died, 4.7 and freestyle and only one other person out (gilly). The forecast looks even more depressing as well, but this isn't a reason to demotivate yourself its a reason to motivate yourself for the next time!!
It always seems harder to motivate yourself for your next session especially when it winter, but there is so many ways to get yourself going:
Exercise - it just makes sense if you don't your lose what you had so just go out and do it, it's not all about going to gym, press-up's and sit up in the front room riding a bike having a crazy hour were you just run around the house it all works and adds up!
DVD's - Although not exercise after watching a good windsurf/surf dvd I just want to go out, run up and down the stairs, not the same as scoring perfect windsurfing weather but turly inspiring makes you think what you can do next time!!

Books - I hate fiction books why read about a irrelevant story about someones fair tale? but a proper book can be reallyinspiring, recently I just read 'Eddie Would Go', and what a life eddie lived makes you just want to do something and it great to see how inspired so many people to do there best.

Another great book which i bough after seeing Stu with it is Laird Hamilton's new book, Lairds philosophy on almost everything but he talks so much sense.
