Here is a little pic of Joe coming off the water. We’re happy to hear Ike didn’t spoil the fun for windsurfing in Texas!

“Post Ike, the windsurfers are coming back out for Wednesday night racing. This is one of our Wednesday night racers, Joe Livingston, on his Mistral Prodigy, which is the prevalent race board on Galveston Bay. Hauk Wahl, also a Prodigy racer, took this picture. He regularly circulates a picture to the email thread of windsurfers in our Club and in the Wednesday night racing group.

Special thanks to Beppe DNA SURF SHOP and Paolo from Windspirit.it for this test of the Panther.
A big thanks to Javier Iglesias Curras for sending along this wonderful video of the kids rig in action. This is the first time his 5 and 3 year old son used the Ezzy Kids rig.
We just got a great email from Guy Fletcher from the UK. Guy is a brilliant musician who works with the likes of Mark Knopfler among others. He was part of the band “Dire Straits”.
Guy learned to windsurf on the island of Montserrat, which was once home to one of the worlds finest recording studios (AIR Studios). Lots of other musicians shared their love of windsurfing and music on the island, like Sting. Sadly, hurricane Hugo and later volcanic activity shut things down.
Guy writes the following:
“Anyway, I just wanted to say that your sails absolutely rock. It took me a while to get used to the ’08’s but I have to say they are SO powerful and controllable. Now I have a couple of ‘09 Panthers and I can’t wait to really test them out.”

At home this month on the RRD FSW 90 and a 6.9 Ezzy wave SE in about 16 knots of warm South Westerly

…and ducking it

..no way…
yes that’s right…you can’t jump that high off that small chop. It IS me though. (the actual jump was probably around 8-10 ft.)
We look forward to hearing more from Guy!
thanks Frank for these very cool videos!!

running a free demo featuring the ‘09 Ezzy Wave Panther and Freewave today at Roosevelt from 11 to 5. Come on out!
Gary Morris will be at Doug’s Beach from 12 to 5 with a fleet of ‘09 Ezzy’s to try.
See ya there!
we received this email from our importer in Singapore…and felt we should share this incredible story.
We had a close-call yesterday when one of our local rider’s (named Ngo) rig had been struck by lighning when he was about to come on to the shore. Luckily he had suffered only minor numbness to his left foot.
Attached pictures showing the torn and damaged sections of the sail and mast.
Apparently the lightning charges hit through the top piece section of the sail into the mast tip and it travels downward to the mast extension when his foot got hit as well.
We are happy to report Ngo is doing just fine!
Our friend in Germany Wolfgang from Surf9999 sent us this footage from a recent demo of the new Panther.
Pictures provided by Frank Schneider, Borken
Be careful…footage is a little wobbly.
Best Wishes!

Here is a recent artice you should read if you ever plan on going to Greece to Windsurf!
Dear Sirs,
On behalf of the North Texas Wind Riders windsurf club I want to thank you for sponsoring our recent regatta and windsurf festival, the Texas State Championships. Your generous donation of windsurf equipment was a big highlight that everybody looked forward to during our prize drawing. I have been lucky enough in the past to win an Ezzy Infinity and it has become my favorite sail. (Finally I have a cambered sail that actually rotates with ease!) As I upgrade my quiver, I will only be ordering Ezzy and only from Mariner Sails.
Thanks again,
Bruce Moore

With everyone is amped to get back on the water after a long winter here in the Gorge.
Now is a great time to offer you some rigging and tuning tips for the 2007 sails.
Tip 1:
The '07's are designed to be flattened with outhaul rather than downhaul. Having a sail that takes a lot outhaul has many advantages:
1) It allows you to make your sail very full or very flat, which increases the wind range, which means fewer sails needed in your quiver.
2) For high wind, applying a lot of outhaul tightens the lower leech, which reduces the lower leech twist and makes the sail more stable.
3) For high wind, using a lot of outhaul reduces the downhaul component of the mast bend, which moves the draft further forward to make the sail more controllable.
You still need to downhaul, but be careful not to over-downhaul. This will flatten the luff and move the draft further aft. We encourage you to try the 2007 sails with more outhaul than you would normally use and see how nice they feel.
Tip 2:
Check out our extensive rigging information on our web site.

Tip 3:
Rigging help is just a phone call or click away. We encourage you to contact David or myself for rigging assistance.

David can be reached at: david@ezzy.com, or 808-575-2566
Let us know how the sails are working for you!

The new pulley looks similar to our initial 2007 pulley but now includes a small clevis pin on the side. This clevis pin allows you to remove the pulley assembly. Some sailors prefer a hoop or “D-Ring”. David has designed a semi-circular ring that simulates a grommet and it fits on the
sail instead of the pulley.
This change will encompass the Wave SE, Freeride, and Infinity sails from this point forward. There are some sails out in the market that have just the first run pulley without the clevis pin.
We do offer a retro fit solution.
At this time, the D ring is only offered separately. We believe most people will be happy with the pulley. If you prefer a D-ring then get in touch with us.
Please give us a call at 800 490 7436 to discuss or send us an email at ezzy@gorge.net.

Sailing conditions in the south-easterly were difficult for some as the breeze was very light on the inside, but much stronger outside the break. Robert Van Der Vlies (Ezzy Sails) climbed his way to the top of the men’s open division after a full day of intense competition and carnage.
All sailors had plenty of great wave rides. There was so much happening at once it was a difficult job for the judges
See below for the final results.
Presentations were held at Surfer`s Point over looking the break. Hand made trophies were handed out to first place in each division, and place getters received either a cash prize or a voucher from the sponsors Ezzy Sails, Angulo and Surf Sail Australia. All agreed it was a great event and look forward to the 2008 event.
Thanks to John Grulich from WWA for organizing the competition and to Fiona Court as head judge.

Angulo raises the standard for Cabo Verde
8-10 foot surf, perfectly by groomed by the offshore wind, motivated the riders arriving at the beach this morning, perfectly setting the stage for completing the double elimination.
Mast after mast were snapped on the rocks as the entire fleet pushed the level higher in their last chance at glory. Early on it looked as if Jason Polakow (JP / NeilPryde) was set to stage a miraculous comeback through the ladder.
The Australian livewire laboured long and hard to make it into 4th place after Kevin Pritchard (Starboard / MauiSails) eventually dashed his hopes. ‘I think I trashed 5 or 6 entire rigs on the rocks today’ said an exhausted Polakow who’d swum in and dealt with the horrendous shorebreak several times during the day.
Of all the standouts Polakow leapfrogged, Levi Siver (Starboard / NeilPryde) and Alex Mussolini were the unlucky ones, who threw caution to the wind with extreme displays of power, daring and style.
Pritchard then had to beat Josh Angulo for a shot at the final. However, superior wave selection and one amazing wave including a stupendous back arch aerial and several incredible turns helped Josh Angulo quash Kevin’s spirited challenge.
Josh had then to sail against yesterday’s single elimination winner Kauli Seadi (Quatro / Naish) in the hope of forcing a re-sail for the event win.
Angulo gained the re-match easily after a one-way heat when Kauli Seadi riskily chose a 4.0 (Angulo selected a 5.8) and got washed onto the rocks and struggled to get back outside. A few masterful late rides were not enough for him to defend his position, meaning the double elimination's second bite of the cherry set up an all-time finale.
Bang on cue, looming set waves, well up to mast-and-a-half high, thundered onto the point, many connecting the full length of the speedway track past the judge’s tower.
It was almost impossible to separate these two outstanding athlete’s performances after the final whistle. Two long rides each were counted. Kauli’s standout wave started when he bashed a massive aerial off the lip from the peak, before making several turns tight in the pocket, perilously close to the rocks.
Josh’s crucial scoring wave also started by back-dooring the peak, late and fully under the lip, followed by one-handed cutbacks, snaps and two aerials on the final inside section.
4 judges to 3 voted Angulo the victor, his power and finishing just edging the Brazilians flare.
Hoards of excited onlookers rushed from their viewpoints on the rocks to the waters edge as Angulo landed at the beach. Waves of fans swept their idol to his feet and carried him to the on-stage podium before they even knew the result.
Although winning iced the cake for this countries most important sporting event ever, just having their flag represented at the last meant everything.
This national hero’s event win marked a massive personal achievement, a crucial moment for Cabo Verde, and a landmark day for windsurfing.
As the event holding period still has time to run it’s likely a super session will be held to capitalize on the awesome conditions the Island of Sal offers.
Check the picture and video gallery’s at www.pwaworldtour.com to see the spectacle for yourself, plus, stay tuned for more information on the super session each day.

Dear all,
It's been a great season so far in Italy, very warm (that's not so good...) and very windy.
We got same really good wavesailing days on the West coast, that keep us trained constantly, then when the mistral blows, Capo Mannu on Western Sardinia is the call!
Best regards and keep sailing!

Hi Dave
Hope your well thought i would drop you line to let you know about a recent session i had on your new ltd edition sails.
I used my 4.0 mse in 60 knots of wind (69 mph) although mentally overpowered the sail held its shape.
The centre of effort was low and forward and i was suprised how i was able to controll the power.I certianly could have used a smaller sail ,if i had one but the sail did the business in extreme conditions. The wind speed while i was out was between 52 and 60 mph.
Regards
Simon

You are correct, you can soften the rotation by using a LONGER cam pocket. I suggest going up two pocket sizes (pocket "A" is the shortest and "I" is the longest). There is no real drawback, just the sleeve is a bit looser. Please let me know if you need any more assistance. Thanks, David Ezzy

Photos by: John Carter/PWA | EZZY SAILS congratulates the great results of JOSH ANGULO, JESSE BROWN, and GRAHAM EZZY, in the 2006 Aloha Classic! ANGULO Lights Up The Line FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 17, 2006Maui, Hawaii (USA) – There was ONE day left to run a full double elimination. With no chance of fitting in both fleets, the Head Jugde ditched the women to concentrate on finishing the mens. Ouch! That couldn't have gone down well with one lady, Daida Moreno, who was desperate for a come back in the double as her PWA Wave World title was at stake. What could she do? The event was over for the women and Daida handed the Wave World Title to her sister, Iballa Moreno, only the second time she has won it. At least, they're keeping it in the family! Onto the men, who had classic mast high Hookipa to deal with all be it with light, offshore winds. Ricardo Campello has clearly been practising in the waves as he performed goiters, aerials and photo shoot cut backs to get through to 5th place beating Matt Pritchard and Nik Baker. John Skye had a good run after a bad start in the single elimination - he got through several heats before losing to new Dad Micah Buzianis. Other interesting results: In the final stages, there were some killer heats: Levi Siver against Jason Polakow was a classic with Polakow winning to meet Kevin Pritchard who he beat to meet Josh Angulo in the final. Josh was, as ever, cool as a cucumber and after not sailing all day, he went out and sailed the perfect wave heat. Polakow mis-timed a wave, crashed out leaving Josh to show off his wave riding style. Aloha Classic Results
